Joy Tansey, Warden of the Broome Bird Observatory telephoned to let us know that a Grey Heron Ardea cinerea had been sighted by a Birds Australia WA group member Clive Nealon.  He apparently observed the Heron flying, at one stage quite close to him, on the beach close to Crab Creek.  Clive is apparently very familiar with this species and was absolutely certain of his identification according to Joy.  Maybe this is the same bird that was spotted in the south-west and then again by Bryce Wells in Geraldton.  I and other local birders had predicted half heartedly that this bird would have to go north via Roebuck Bay !!  Hopefully the bird will be seen again soon.
